Terms and Conditions

These Terms apply when you use Speedies or buy a ticket for an online speed-dating event. By booking or taking part, you agree to these Terms and the community and safety rules below.

1. The service

Speedies is an online speed-dating service currently operating in beta. Features, event formats and availability may change as the service develops. We use reasonable care and skill to provide the service but cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, legally allowed to use dating services where you live, and provide accurate information. Events may have an age range, city, theme or other eligibility criteria. We may ask for reasonable proof of age or identity and may suspend access where information cannot be verified or appears false.

Eligibility is normally based on self-declaration. Unless stated otherwise, Speedies does not conduct criminal background checks or guarantee another participant's age, identity, location or suitability.

3. Tickets and payments

A ticket gives one named person access to one specified event. Tickets are personal and may not be transferred or resold. The price, date, time and local time zone are shown before payment. Payments are processed by Stripe; Speedies does not store full card details.

4. Event numbers, attendance and refunds

The event needs at least 4 paid men and 4 paid women one hour before it starts. If Speedies cancels before the event because that booking minimum is not met, eligible booked participants receive a full refund. Once confirmed, the event starts with whoever checks in. The event page shows the policy assigned to a particular event before booking.

If an event goes ahead, a refund is not normally due because you changed your mind, missed it, arrived late, or could not join because of your device, internet connection or surroundings. Speedies may provide a refund or replacement event where Speedies cancels, materially fails to provide the event as promised, or where required by law. Nothing in these Terms removes legal consumer rights.

5. Events and matches

The number of conversations depends on live attendance. You decide whether you would like to connect with another participant. A match happens only when both people choose to connect, after which Speedies may share the contact details each person agreed to provide. Speedies does not guarantee a match, relationship, particular participant, or specific number of conversations.

6. Conduct

Treat every participant with respect. You must not harass, threaten, discriminate, scam, impersonate, sexually pressure, stalk, exploit, or deliberately make another person feel unsafe. Respect rejection and do not share another person's information without permission.

Speedies does not record event calls. You must not record, screenshot, photograph or share an event unless every person shown or heard has clearly agreed. Do not use Speedies for commercial promotion, solicitation, fraud, illegal services, harmful conduct or any unlawful purpose.

7. Prohibited content and illegal activity

You must not upload, show, send, request, link to or promote pornography, sexual violence, child sexual abuse or exploitation, non-consensual intimate images, graphic violence, hate or terrorist content, scams, malware, fake profiles, impersonation, illegal goods or services, trafficking or exploitation. This list is not exhaustive.

Speedies has zero tolerance for human trafficking, sexual exploitation, forced labour, grooming, child exploitation, abuse, violence and attempts to recruit or facilitate exploitation.

8. Reports and enforcement

You can report a participant or safety concern. Speedies may investigate, remove someone from an event, warn, suspend or permanently ban an account, cancel an event, preserve evidence, issue a discretionary refund, or contact law enforcement. Serious action may be taken without advance notice where reasonably necessary to protect a person, the community or the service.

Speedies responds to valid legal requests and may preserve or disclose relevant information where legally required or reasonably necessary to protect safety.

9. Takedown notices and appeals

When Speedies warns, restricts, removes or bans a participant, we normally send a notice to their booking email explaining the action, the relevant policy rule, whether the action is temporary or permanent, and how to appeal. We may limit or delay details where disclosure could endanger someone, reveal a reporter's identity, expose illegal material or interfere with a legal investigation.

A participant may submit an appealusing their booking email. The appeal should identify the relevant event or decision and explain why it should be reviewed. We review the original report, available evidence, event records and the participant's response, then record and communicate whether the action is upheld, reduced, replaced with a warning or reversed. Reporter identities and private information are not disclosed.

10. Marketing permission

A participant's video, image or screenshot will be used for marketing only with clear permission. Permission may be withdrawn for future use by contacting Speedies, although this may not affect material already published or campaigns already in progress where removal is not reasonably possible.

11. Responsibility

Speedies is responsible for foreseeable loss caused by a breach of these Terms or failure to use reasonable care and skill. Speedies is not responsible for unforeseeable losses, business losses, or problems caused by your device, connection, environment or conduct. Nothing limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

12. Changes and governing law

The version published when you book applies to that booking unless a change is required by law or is clearly more favourable to you. These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, while you retain mandatory rights that apply where you live.

Privacy Policy

1. Information collected

Speedies collects information needed to operate bookings and events, including name, email address, age, gender selection, event choice, booking and payment status, check-in activity, pairings, match choices, feedback and contact details chosen for mutual matches.

Speedies may collect limited age or identity verification information, support messages, safety reports, incident evidence, device and browser details needed to diagnose a problem, and payment references from Stripe. Full card numbers and card security codes are not stored by Speedies. Essential browser storage is used to maintain event access on a device.

If you create a video profile, Speedies stores the basic profile details and video answers you submit. Your email, WhatsApp number and hometown are kept private and are not shown on the shared profile page.

2. How information is used

Information is used to provide bookings and events, process payments, send tickets and reminders, operate video calls, create mutual matches, provide support, investigate reports, prevent fraud and misuse, enforce rules, improve the service, meet legal obligations and handle disputes.

Submitted video profiles can be viewed through an unlisted link while the profile owner keeps sharing enabled. Anyone who receives that link may view and further share it. The owner can turn sharing off, which invalidates the previous link. A person responding must deliberately choose to send their own submitted profile back.

Processing is based on providing the requested service, legitimate interests in operating a safe and reliable service, legal obligations, and consent where required. Consent for optional marketing or future uses can be withdrawn at any time.

3. Sharing and service providers

Speedies uses Stripe for payments, Supabase for database and live-event services, Daily where used for video services, Resend for email, and Vercel for hosting. Providers process information as needed to supply their services. Contact details are shared with another participant only following a mutual match and agreement to share them.

Relevant information may be preserved or disclosed in response to a lawful request or where permitted to protect people and the service from harm, exploitation or fraud.

4. International processing and retention

Some providers may process information outside the United Kingdom or European Economic Area using safeguards available under applicable data-protection law. Information is retained for as long as needed to run events, provide support, handle refunds and disputes, meet tax or legal duties, prevent repeat harm and keep the service safe, after which it is deleted or anonymised where practical.

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or object to certain processing. You can opt out of marketing. Privacy requests can be sent to hello@joinspeedies.com. UK users may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office if they remain unhappy with a response.

6. Security, age and changes

Speedies uses reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, but no online system is completely secure. Keep ticket links private and report suspected misuse promptly. Speedies is for people aged 18 and over and does not knowingly collect information from children. This notice may be updated as the service or legal requirements change.

Acceptable Use Policy and Community Guidelines

This Acceptable Use Policy applies whenever you access Speedies, buy a ticket, attend an event, contact another participant through the service, or submit content, feedback or a report. Breaking this policy may result in removal from an event, suspension, a permanent ban, cancellation without a refund where legally permitted, or referral to the appropriate authorities.

1. Respect and consent

Treat people with dignity and respect boundaries. Discrimination, bullying, insults, threats, stalking, harassment, unwanted sexual advances, pressure to share contact details, or continuing contact after being asked to stop are prohibited.

2. Be genuine

Use accurate details and do not impersonate another person, create a fake identity, catfish, or use somebody else's photos or information.

3. Protect yourself and others

Do not ask another user for money, financial details, passwords or identity documents. Do not promote a business or solicit illegal goods or services. Keep private ticket links secure and do not record another participant without clear permission.

4. Speak up

If somebody breaks these rules or makes you feel unsafe, leave the conversation and send a private report. Reports may result in a warning, removal, suspension or permanent ban.

5. Prohibited use

You must not use Speedies to break the law; facilitate fraud, exploitation or trafficking; distribute malware; collect another person's information without permission; evade a suspension or ban; interfere with the service; test its security without written permission; or help somebody else do any of these things.

6. Review and enforcement

Speedies may review reports and relevant account or event records, preserve evidence, restrict access and cooperate with service providers or public authorities where there is a valid legal or safety reason. Enforcement decisions consider the seriousness, context, available evidence and risk of harm.

Safety Centre

1. Immediate danger

Contact local emergency services immediately. Speedies is not an emergency service and cannot provide emergency assistance.

2. Before and after an event

• Take time to check that a person is who they claim to be and stop contact if something feels wrong.
• Never send money or share bank, card, password or identity details.
• Use a communication channel that allows blocking until you feel comfortable.
• If meeting in person, choose a busy public place and tell somebody you trust.

3. During video dates

• Keep conversations respectful and pay attention to boundaries.
• Do not show anything you would not want recorded or copied.
• Leave and report unwanted sexual behaviour, threats, pressure, scams or suspicious conduct.
• Do not record or screenshot somebody without clear permission.

4. Reporting

Abuse, harassment, fraud, underage users, impersonation, trafficking or exploitation can be reported using the safety report form. Include the event and participant name where known. General technical or booking problems can be sent to support.

Law Enforcement Request Protocol

This protocol explains how law-enforcement and government authorities may request information from Speedies. It is intended for official requests only. Requests from individuals for their own information should be made as a privacy request to hello@joinspeedies.com.

1. Where to send a request

Send official requests to hello@joinspeedies.com with the subject line Law Enforcement Request. Requests should be sent from an official government or agency email address. Speedies may independently verify the requester's identity and authority before responding.

2. Information required

A request should include:

• The requesting agency, officer's name, badge or identification number, official email address and telephone number.
• The relevant jurisdiction, investigation or case reference and the legal authority relied upon.
• A signed court order, warrant, notice or other applicable legal process where required.
• The specific Speedies user, email address, event, payment reference or other identifier concerned.
• The precise records requested, the relevant date range and the reason those records are necessary.
• Any legal deadline, confidentiality requirement or restriction on notifying the affected person.

3. Review and disclosure

Speedies reviews requests for authenticity, jurisdiction, legal validity, necessity and proportionality. We may ask for clarification, reject requests that are informal, vague or overbroad, or require the appropriate legal process before disclosing information. Where disclosure is lawful, we provide only information that is reasonably necessary and responsive to the request.

4. Emergency requests

If there is an imminent risk of death or serious physical harm, clearly mark the subject line Emergency Law Enforcement Request. Explain the emergency, identify the person at risk, describe the information requested and how it may prevent the harm, and provide an official contact available for immediate verification. Emergency requests are assessed case by case. Speedies is not an emergency service; anyone facing immediate danger should contact the relevant local emergency service.

5. Preservation requests

Authorities may ask Speedies to preserve specifically identified records while the appropriate legal process is obtained. A preservation request must identify the account or event, records, date range, legal basis and requested preservation period. Preservation does not by itself authorise disclosure. We preserve available records only where the request is lawful, sufficiently specific and technically possible.

6. Information Speedies may hold

Depending on the user and event, Speedies may hold registration details, email address, age and gender selection, event bookings, payment references, check-in and event activity, pairings, match choices, support messages, feedback, safety reports and limited technical records. Speedies does not store full card details and does not record the audio or video of event calls. Records may no longer be available where they have been deleted under our normal retention practices.

7. User notice and confidentiality

Speedies may notify an affected user of a request unless notification is prohibited by law, a valid confidentiality requirement applies, or notice would create a credible risk of harm or prejudice an investigation. We may ask an authority to identify the legal basis and duration of any requested non-disclosure.

8. Requests from outside the United Kingdom

Speedies is operated in England and Wales. Authorities outside the United Kingdom may need to use an applicable international cooperation process or obtain legal process recognised in the United Kingdom. We assess the appropriate route based on the request, jurisdiction and applicable law.

9. No guarantee of availability

Publishing this protocol does not create a right to information, extend how long records are retained, waive an objection, or prevent Speedies from seeking legal advice. We may update this protocol as the service or applicable law changes.
